What kind of service is provided by VISITOR SIM?

VISITOR SIM is a data communication service made for travelers to Japan.
You can not make phone calls using voice communication, but you can use data to make calls like facetime calls.
It is a prepaid SIM that there is no extra cost nor contract. Please enjoy exploring Japan with VISITOR SIM.

What if I used up all the data?

The service will stop.
If you want to continue to use the internet, you can charge it from ”Status page”. You can access to the status page even if you used up all the data or service end date has passed for two days.

Where can I check my expiration date and remaining data?

You may check your service period and remaining data in ”Status page”.

How can I log in to the "Status page"?
I can't go to the "Status page".

There are three ways to log in to the "Status page".
1) By using VISITOR eSIM network.
Make sure you are selecting VISITOR eSIM, turn off the Wi-Fi and access to the status page.
2) By entering your email address and 11 digits eSIM number starting 020.
3) By entering your email address and your order number starting with an alphabet ECX and 7 digit number.

Where can I check my Order Number?

You can check your order number in the email sent to you when your order is completed.

Where can I check my Phone Number?

Your phone number will be included in the email with the subject "eSIM is ready to use."
Once your eSIM is activated, your phone number will appear in your phone's settings.

What is "Service Start Deadline"?

Service Start Deadline is a date by which customers need to start using the service.

What is "Service Start Date"?

Service Start Date is the date when you start using the Internet.

When does the Service Period Countdown starts?

The Service Period Countdown will start from the day you start using the Internet.

When will the contract information letter be sent?

We will send you a contract information letter the next business day after we send you an email with the subject "eSIM is ready to use."

How do I strat using eSIM?

You'll need to activate and add APN profile to your device. Please check Setting Page for details.

Can I make VoIP calls?

Yes. You can make VoIP calls like facetime call, Whatsup call and more.

Can I make phone calls?

No.
VISITOR SIM is data communication service that you cannot make or receive phone calls to hotels, home, restaurants, etc. and send SMS nor MMS.

Can I use SMS and MMS?

No.
You cannot use SMS and MMS.

Can I add phone call service to VISITOR SIM?

No.
You cannot add phone call service.

What kind of SIM type do you have?

We only have eSIM for VISITOR eSIM for Japan.

Does the VISITOR eSIM for Japan support international roaming?

No. International roaming is not supported.

Can I use personal hotspot (tethering) feature?

Yes.

Can it be used outside Japan?

No, it can NOT be used outside Japan.

Do you have technical requirements for device?

Yes, there are 4 requirements.
1) Your device must be unlocked.
2) Your device must be able to use eSIM.
2) Your device must be able to use LTE.
3) Your device must be safe to use in Japan.

What is eSIM?

eSIM stands for "embedded SIM". It is built into the smartphone.

What is benefits of using eSIM?

Mainly there are three benefits for using eSIM.
1) No need to replace your home SIM.
2) No delivery time.
3) Environmentally Friendly

What device can I use?


Where can I check my EID?

For iOS, go to Settings > General > About > look under "EID".

For Androids, go to Settings > Device information > SIM status> look under "EID".
For more information, contact the manufacturer of your device.

How long will it take before I can use the eSIM?

Once the eSIM is available, we will send you an email with the subject "eSIM is ready to use". Then you can activate your eSIM and set APN profile on to your device. Once it's done you can start using the internet.

The email will be sent the day before the Service Start Date you specified.
If you would like to start using it on the day of purchase, please see below for the timing of receiving the email. It will vary depending on when you completed the purchase.

Completed between 10:00-20:00 (JST), within 1 hour.
Completed between 20:00-24:00 (JST), until 11:00 am next day.
Completed between 0:00-10:00 (JST), until 11:00 am on the day.

I requested a reissue of my eSIM. When will it be reissued?

It depends on the reissue completion time.
We will notify you by email when the reissue is complete.
We recommend that you wait in an environment with Wi-Fi so that you can receive the email.

Can I do the settings before coming to Japan or on the Airplane?

All the eSIM settings must be done in Japan.

I accidentally erased "Cellular Plans". Can I add the plan again?

You can add the plan again by reissuing the eSIM from the Status page. The reissuance procedure will cost 550 yen.

When I tried to download eSIM profile, I couldn't download it because of an error. I also could not redownload.

Downloading may fail depending on your smartphone's maximum number of eSIM to download. As error does not mention the maximum number of savable eSIM profile on your smartphone, the error message is unclear.
In such case, you need to reissue eSIM profile after you delete other eSIM profile on your smartphone.

VISITOR eSIM for Japan is available through this website.

What payment methods are available on this website?

Only credit card payment is accepted.
VISA, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club.

I made purchase by mistake.
Can I change or cancel my order?

You cannot change your order, but you can cancel your order from the Status page up to 2 days before the start date you specified.

If it's not within the cancellation period, your order cannot be canceled for any reason. There is no refund either.

Can you send contract information letter to my country?

No we can not.
Delivery is only possible within Japan.

When will the contract information letter be sent?

When will the contract information letter be sent? On the next business day after you receive an email with the subject "eSIM is ready to use".

The hotel said they have not received my letter. Where is my contract information letter?

Is your reservation name and your order name the same? If not, maybe your hotel received the letter, but rejected to receive.
Please contact us so we can send you another letter.

I have ordred eSIM and it's ready to use, but I haven't received the contract information letter. Can I activate without the letter?

No you can not.
Please contact us so we can send you another letter.

I changed the hotel at the last minute. Can you change the delivery address for contract information letter?

Please cancel your order and apply from beginning, or contact us so we can send you another letter.

How do I continue to use the service after it's service end date?

You can charge the data amount and days for two days after the service end date.

Is there a charge period for this product?

The charge period for this product is up to 2 days after the expiration date.

How long will it take to use the internet again after charging?

It should take no longer than 5 min.

I am coming back to Japan next month. Can I use the same SIM card?

If you are returning to Japan within the rechargeable period (2 days after the service end date), then you will be able to use the same eSIM.
However, if you are returning past the rechargeable period, you will need to purchase a new eSIM.

Can I charge outside of Japan?

No you can not.
